Infection: How do you know it is infected? Have you been on antibiotics? Notice red lines running away from the wound, or reddened and inflammed skin all the way around the wound? If so, you should probably be taking some antibiotics. Otherwise, you can take the scab off, clean with hydrogen peroxide, put a small amount of an antibiotic ointment on it, and keep it loosely covered. Good luck!

Water: Avoid peroxide. Avoid Bacitracin or neosporin. These are useless, irritating, sensitizing, and should not be used on wounds. Is it really infected.? If it is you ought to see a dr. Many wounds are red as part of normal healing. If it is very painful, pussy, bloody, see a dr. Many wounds heal best if left open and lubricated with vaseline or aquaphor.
