Is it normal for my manubrium to stick out pretty far? it causes no pain, but my chest bones pop occasionally. is this just a normal variant?

Likely normal: There are many physical variances in the human body when compared from person to person, the size and shape of the sternum is no exception. At 37 years old, I am assuming that your extended manubrium has never caused any problems and i doubt that it ever will. Same with the occasional, non-painful chest popping.
