For a pregnant women doing the 18 to 20 week fetal survey, is it normal for both a transabdominal and a transvaginal ultrasound to be performed?

Transcervical Length: It is becoming more and more routine today to perform both ultrasounds because the transvaginal ultrasound measures the length of the cervix/birth canal and helps doctors predict a woman's risk of preterm birth, which is elevated if length.
