Painful fingertip: Sometimes when the fingertip is injured, the tissue under the nail plate can bleed. If it remains very painful, some recommend heating the tip of a paper clip and burning a small hole through the nail plate. This may allow some of the blood to escape, making it less painful. If pain is tolerable, leave it alone. Good luck.
