You have had a trauma to your head even though you did not lose consciousness. It may be a bone bruise or the covering of the shill has a lot of nerve endings. Just take it easy and don't do things that cause more pain or much head movement . If headaches, swelling, confusion or any negative changes occur, get back to the doctor. Another few days rest doesn't hurt either. Better to be safe.

I am sure your doctor has given you some guidance! it does take 2-3 weeks to heal any soft tissue injury. If the symptoms persist or get any worse, your doctor will likely ask you to have an x-ray of the bone or a ct scan of the head. I would wait it out for few more days to see if it will improve on its own.

It is not recommend to have scan after head injury if you had no loss of consciousness or confusion. Bone pain last between 4 weeks to 3 months.

A contusion of the skull would leave a tender area for up to 2 weeks. Worrisome symptoms would include severe headaches, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness, confusion or visual symptoms. With these, examination by brain ct scan would be indicated.
