Drug tolerance: You may not truly be getting worse, as the benefit of the Ritalin (methylphenidate) may be wearing off. Other meds exist, and many are far more effective. Perhaps a drug called xyrem might help. See a sleep specialist, maybe have additional assessments, and proceed based upon outcomes. This can all be reversed.

See a psychiatrist .: Narcolepsy is often treated with a drug called Nuvigil which is also used for shift work disorder, idiopathic hypersomnia, catalepsy. The company that produce Nuvigil also produced Provigil , the "precursor" of nuvigil. However, a good sleep study and a psychiatric evaluation will uncover what other problems you may have.
