Could be: Given your recent activities. Acute muscle strain can cause this due to resulting inflamation. Rest, ice in the first 24-48 hrs may be of help. If it is ok with your doctor you may try an anti-inflammatory medication. These symptoms are usually self limiting and should resolve in a few days. If not, then check back again with your doctor for further recommendations.

Yes: Sounds like a pulled muscle due to shovelling generally tends to improve with rest and heat and should resolve in couple of days. If it persists then you may need to be evaluated by your doctor.
