Most likely it is an: acute muscle strain (pull) . If you have trouble with urination (pain on urination, increased frequency, radiating pain from back to bladder, frank blood or pink urine, fever/chills, etc.) then you may have kidney stones. Or you could have referred pain from gallbladder stones if it is right side of back and you have indigestion, increased gas, colicky pain after you eat.
