A member asked:

Is ibuprofen or tylenol (acetaminophen) better for a nursing mother?

Tylenol (acetaminophen): Tylenol (acetaminophen). Ibuprofen may not be all that harmful, but it is not as safe during pregnancy/breastfeeding as tylenol (acetaminophen). Also, Ibuprofen is used by many as an aid to "drying up breast milk." it actually has anti-inflammatory properties, which is what it's main use is here, but there may be an underlying physiologic reason that some people use it this way. Good luck!

Acetaminophen: Acetaminophen (tylenol) is recommended over Ibuprofen for nursing mothers. However, both medications can be found in trace amounts in breastmilk.
