A member asked:

I was diagnosed with the flu. yet the test came back negative. i have a fever of over 100, aches, chills, bloody mucus, soar throat. is this the flu?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Influenza: This illness is caused by a virus and it can be simulated by other viruses like parainfluenza, adenovirus, enteroviruses, and so on. Do not know what test was done and whether it has a high false negative frequency, but it does sound like you have a flu-like illness for which antibiotics are unnecessary.
