Yes: Anxiety can certainly cause your symptoms. Unfortunately there is a long list of other problems which can also cause you to feel short of breath like this. Some of the most common are exposure to fumes, allergies, tobacco smoke. Asthma is also a common cause. You should talk with your doctor about your anxiety and sort this out together.
