See dentist: If your meds aren't controlling the pain, go back and see your treating dentist, possibly on an emergency basis, to resolve the issue. There are things that can be done to help, right away. Good luck!

Root canal pain: It is common for there to be some pain following a root canal. Do you have swelling? You did not say what you are taking but this is what i recommend to my patients. Take 600 mg ibuprophen and 2 tylenol (acetaminophen) every 6 hours. Call the dentist that did your root canal, they know your condition best.

Follow-up: First: is the pain getting better? Slow progress is better than none. Second: is the pain making it difficult to live your life? (you're commenting here, so yes). If you're not improving, call your dentist; there may be a simple fix like an adjustment or antibiotics to speed your recovery. Most people benefit from anti-inflammatories (like ibuprofen) ; alternating warm or cold packs. Heal well :)

Possibly: there are too many variables to answer your question in this format. Has the root canal been completed? Was the pulp inflamed, or infected? Was the treatment performed by an Endodontist or General Dentist? What meds are you currently taking? What is the exact nature of your pain?

Vague: Two days is not the best indicator for healing. Need more time. I would call the office and ask questions.
