A member asked:

I have a rest hr at 50 when i lie down. can i still take beta blockers? doc said it was the only way but i am scared of the low pulse it will give me

A doctor has provided 1 answer

?too slow: If your heart rate stayed in the 50's when you're up and about, i feel that taking beta blockers(why do you need them?) will slow your heart rate too much which could bring on lightheadedness and fatigue. On the other hand if you really need them, and if your pulse is in the 70's when you're active you probably will tolerate the beta blocker. Just be sure to monitor your pulse a few times daily.
