A member asked:

What are the disadvantages of long term use of antibiotics beside bacteria resistance ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Antibiotic: This obviously depends on the particular antibiotic, but all have some degree of toxicity or have the potential for inducing allergic reactions, to say nothing about altering your normal bacterial flora and leaving you susceptible to secondary infections like candidiasis and clostridium difficile colitis and others. Only do this if clinically necessary.
