Not normal: This isn't normal, and if it is an acute finding, then it's emergent to treat, so your life is not in jeopardy. However, if this has been gradually going on, it's still not normal, and needs to be worked up aggressively by your doctor, to see if it's something happening in your esophageal sphincter, or where that's causing this feeling. In any case, it's best to start with your doctor asap.
