No such diagnosis: No depressive pd exists in the manual of diagnoses. Perhaps they meant dependent pd? Personality disorders are notoriously difficult to diagnose correctly. Few are trained to do it. Get 2nd opinion from a mental health professional who specializes in personality disorders. Or, maybe they meant chronic major depression? Don't give up hope. Treatment follows proper diagnosis.

Don't cling to Dx: Mh diangoses are a way to organize symptoms so that they can be identified and treated. Please do not cling to any mh diagnosis w/out a second opinion (hormones/lifestyle) and staying open improve i've never used dep. Per. Disorder but did find what i thought. The negative thoughts or depressive symptoms start early in adult years. Cognitive behavioral therapy is a good option.
