A member asked:

I got anemic 2 times and my haemoglobin level was dropped to 4.2 and got blood transfusion. what should i do and which specialist should visit. age 70?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Your primary Doc 1st: There are many reasons for anemia. Your physician team likely will evaluate for blood loss (typically in the stool), or blood breakdown (meaning you are making enough blood but also you are destroying the cells as well), versus your blood factory not making enough blood. After the initial evaluation, your doctor can best direct you to the gastroenterologist, hematologist, or other specialist.
