Neonate encephalitis: Neonatal encephalitis is often characterized by symptoms of central nervous system dysfunction. An infant with neonatal encephalopathy may exhibit abnormal level of consciousness, seizures, tone and reflex abnormalities, apnea, and feeding difficulties. This is often caused by herpes simplex virus.
