What causes febrile illness and how do you test for it in the clinic?

Many things: Febrile illness means having a fever from some illness. Many different things can cause fever. Most are caused by viruses and some by bacteria and other diseases. Often no particular lab test is necessary but blood counts can be helpful and some tests for strep and flu also can be helpful. Most is decided bu the physician himself.
