Throat infection: An antibiotic should only be given if there was a strep test or culture done. Augmentin (amoxicillin and clavulanate) is Amoxicillin and clavulinic acid. Amoxicillin is usually sufficient for strep. Even in the few cases where strep is resistant to Amoxicillin (or augmentin), the resistance is usually short-lived and resolves within 3 months. So, you do not have lie-long resistance.
