Multiple causes: Depending on the location and whether it is soft, hard, moveable, or tender it could be a lymph node, fatty tumor, abscess. You should see a doctor and have it looked at.

Varied causes: There are several possibilities including an inflammed follicle, cyst or possibly and inflammed lymph node due to the former. More serious considerations including lymph node swelling from other causes or neoplasms are possible. If the problem does not resolve within 1-2 weeks which is typical timing in the setting of inflammation it's best to get evaluated by your physician.
