Possible infection: Swelling that persists after an operation especially if hot may be signs of an infection and need to be checked by a physician.

It could be infected: You should call the surgeon that operated on your wrist and leave a message about your symptoms right now. It is probably just a normal part of the healing process but it could be a sign of a hand infection that needs to be dealt with right away. In this instance it is better to over react rather than under react. An ER or Urgent care visit would be wise if your surgeon is not available.
