Overbite?: You are 40 years old and have lived with an overbite for ...well...probably 32 of those years. Do you wish to have your overbite corrected? That is the first question. Second, are there other issues that need correcting besides your overbite?

Orthodontics: The big question to answer is is your occlusion (bite) contributing or will it contribute to other dental problems such as cavities and gum disease? The next big question is how unhappy are you with your smile? Finally you have to find out the length of time for Orthodontic treatment and its cost. Then decide for yourself: "Can I do without braces?"

NO: Well, maybe, depending on what you call braces. Invisalign can, in some cases address this. The question, as was noted by another doc, is how bad is it and how badly do you want it fixed. Based on your age I suspect that the overbite is not placing you in any great medical danger. But yes, if you want it fixed, talk to an orthodontist and discuss options.
