See GYN: Ovarian cysts are diagnosed with an imaging study like an ultrasound or CT scan. Once an ovarian cyst is seen on an imaging study, what is done depends on your age, the size of the cyst and what it looks like. The best thing to do is to see a GYN and get a professional opinion on your specific situation.
