Outside of: Extravasation usually refers to a material being outside of its normal area; often refers to fluid. For example an extravasation of joint fluid outside the knee joint would imply there may have been a tear in the joint causing fluid to leave the knee joint. If you tore your biceps partially or fully, there could be an extravasation of fluid which would likely represent a hematoma from the tear.
