No quick fix: "Pretty bad" acne is unlikely to respond to over-the-counter remedies. Start using topical benzoyl peroxide as tolerated and get with your personal physician. Acne is a chronic, non-curable disease that you'll need to manage until it remits on its own. If you are offered isotretinoin, please give it serious consideration. It's not for the faint-hearted but is the last and strongest resource.
