No not necessarily: Anyone who has a sore throat should be checked for strep and if present, treated.

Not necessarily: This disease is caused by the organism which causes strep throat and many family members may be carrying this in the back of their throats without symptoms. There are some doctors who may favor prophylactic treatment, but it does not have a high success rate in eradication of these bacteria. It is a judgement call by the doctor.
