Low oxalate foods: Yes, this would be a change to most people's diets. However, there are many things you can eat. Here's a good site with lists of what to avoid and what is fine to eat on this food plan: http://tinyurl.Com/lh2fykg also here's another place for helpful info: http://www.Lowoxalate.Info/ your father can ask his doctors why they recommend this if he has no stones, but they may want to protect kidneys.

Second opinion: The 'low oxalate' diet is not critical to managing kidney stones. The physicain who instructed you to do this may be lawyer-shy. Chances are that other physicians and dieticians will tell him that the key to preventing kidney stones from recurring is more about staying hydrated so that the urine is always clear.
