A member asked:

How does an increase or decrease in iron in mother's body affect the baby during pregnancy ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Not much: Unless there is a significant deficiency of iron in the mother, there is no impact on the baby. Iron deficiency in the mother can cause significant anemia in the mother however and can lead to the possible need for a blood transfusion. An increase in iron, unless associated with a medical condition, will not cause a problem.
