Yes: Although technically , barrett's should only occur in the setting of acid reflux , once you have barrett's, the lining accommodates so that you may not actually have reflux symptoms. It is still recommended to decrease acid exposure to the lower esophagus to theoretically decrease the chance of progression to esophageal cancer. This can be done with medications or going on an antireflux diet.
