Vitamin D and sleep: Authorsgominak sc, et al. Journal med hypotheses. 2012 aug;79;#40;2;#41;:132-5. Doi: 10.1016/j.Mehy.2012.03.031. Epub 2012 may 13. Most patients had improvement in neurologic symptoms and sleep but only through maintaining a narrow range of 25;#40;oh;#41; vitamin d3 blood levels of 60-80 ng/ml. Comparisons of brain regions associated with sleep-wake regulation and vitamin d target neurons in the diencephalonand several brainstem nuclei. Because of vitamin d's direct effect on the central nervous system, they hypothesize that the worldwide epidemic of vitamin d deficiency is a cause for worldwide epidemic of insomnia. If her insomnia persists please have her see her family doctor who will recommend treatment from there.

Can't Sleep: 1st make an appt with your pcp to rule out any medical conditions that might be impacting your daughter's sleep. If it appears to be mood related consult with a psychologist.
