A member asked:

Is it a good idea to remove a sebaceous cyst or just unclog it?

Unclog will not end: While "unclogging" a sebaceous cyst may sound fun or fulfilling, it generally does not treat a sebacous cyst; it only empties it. In order to succesfully treat a cyst, you must remove the lining which typically requires minor surgery.

Depends,,,: If it is small, unclogging it can be done (like squeezing out a blackhead) but it will almost always recur, as the lining is intact. It may also become infected. Complete removal of the cyst and its lining will prevent recurrence but, of necessity, will leave a small scar.
