Healing : It could be normal and not necessarily due to an infection, though if your child is picking and scratching at it, she could be introducing bacteria into the wound. Best to continue a topical antibiotic for prevention. If it gets more red esp if spreading and there is pus draining from it, there may be a need for an oral antibiotic. You may clean it daily with hydrogen peroxide to disinfect it.
