Blood test result - on a recent blood test result the component result for alt (sgpt) was 66, which was listed as abnormal. what might this be?

May be due to your: Medication. Alt of 66 is only mildly elevated. Both Crestor (rosuvastatin) and Niaspan can cause such elevation. If you drink alcohol, that could explain it too. If you drink, stop entirely for three months before repeating the test.

Maybe "hepatitis": Hepatitis is defined as inflammation of liver cells, as is indicated by elevation in serum transaminases (ast and/or alt). Hepatitis can be caused by a variety of issues (infectious, ischemic, metabolic, toxic, infiltrative, alcohol-related, drugs, etc.). Alt is not however specific to just the liver--so, what tests have been done ; what has been ruled out?
