If you suspect a newborn has hsv i or ii, see you pediatrician right away to get them on medication to help them fight the infection and to lessen the severity of the symptoms.

Usually very similar: When a baby is exposed to hsv2 during birth, the symptoms usually include the appearance of tiny vesicles, or blisters, on the baby's body, but the distribution may be different than in adults. The blisters will show up in 2 to 12 days. The pediatrician who is examining the baby may consult an expert in pediatric infectious disease if there is a question about whether it is herpes.
