It should be ok but : Avoid prolonged sitting or standing. Make sure you exercise, keep your weight trim and avoid smoking. 90% of herniations get better without surgery. Exercise, especially core stengthening , flexibility and cardiovascular regimens are key. Avoid free weights in terms of squats and dead lifts. Bench work is better with lighter weights and higher reps.
