9 day old baby. has oral thrush. so far eats fine and is not cranky. mom breastfeeds. want to avoid medicine. suggestions how to treat baby and mom?

Thrush: Mom should wash her breasts with soap and water before and after feeding. Mild ointment is available for mom and oral medication can be given to baby if washing doesnt solve the problem.

Depends: Mild thrush can be ignored.If the kid gets it to the point the linings of the mouth bleed during feeds, it is obviously going to trigger discomfort and you will know.However, the yeast that causes thrush is everywhere, including in the mouth/gut of all babies.You are unlikely ever to remove it from their body or environment.If baby's doing fine, you can ignore it until it becomes a problem
