Choose your parents: The reality of osteoarthritis as we understand it today is that genetics is likely the single most important factor in deciding the time of onset, the sites affected, and the severity of disease. That said, taking care of your joints can probably make a difference. Exercise helps maintain strength and range of motion. Get up and move around because, for good or ill, you can't choose your parents!
