It does: The blood clot is covered by epithelial cells which generated from the gingival mucosa of socket margins, taking about 10-14 days to fully cover the oppening. During this period the clot get a different appearance and colors.

Darker is normal: Like many healing wounds it is normal to see it darken with time. If it becomes white and pus filled this is definitely not normal and antibiotics are definitely in order.
