A member asked:

Diagnosed with stomach focal intestinal metaplasia in endoscopy and i wanted to ask how much is that probable of getting out of hand and cancerous ?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Low probability: One form of such change is called barretts esophagus(caused by acid reflux). That one carries some small risk of changing to cancer. But you need to have your doctor monitor you with endoscopy which can provide you good protection from any serious consequences. Use antacids and keep your stomach acid under good control.
