A member asked:

Is irritable bowel syndrome diagnosed at the first visit to the doctor?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

IBS definition: Ibs is a generic term, not a pinpoint diagnosis, for people with vague GI symptoms with no discernible cause, and not one i personally use. It's a diagnosis of exclusion and convenience, so being tagged with it with one visit may not be ideal. If there's no absolute diagnosis, and your defined as having ibs, eat a broad diet with fibre, drink plenty of water, and add yogurt to diet. Good luck.
