New IUD: When the miena is inserted, there is a 3 to 6 months break in period. Most of the symptoms resolve by the end of that time. Symptoms can include: cramping, irregular bleeding, hormonal symptoms such as acne, breast pain, water retention, and moodiness. Uness you're having signs of an infection, (fever, foul discharge), you should try to wait it out.
