Because...: When you throw up you sometimes strain your chest wall muscles causing mild inflammation and pain. You can confirm this by pushing in the area that hurts. If it hurts more, then it's chest wall pain & typically nothing to be concerned about. The treatment for such pain is rest & ibuprofen.
