Cream: Coffee mate contains "partially hydrogenated fats" -- meaning there can be some unhealthy trans fats in what you put in your coffee. If the amount is .5g/serving or less, the company is allowed to say "0" trans fats is in its product even though this is not exactly true. If you take more than 1 serving, you're exposed for sure. You can try coconut, almond, or soy milk instead if lactose sensitive.

I'd say Coffee Mate.: Ounce for ounce, I would think Coffee Mate varieties would have fewer calories than cream. And you'd have more flavor varieties with Coffee Mate, if you like flavored coffee. That's not to say that Coffee Mate is a "healthy" choice, just perhaps better than cream or whole milk, for example.
