Leukemia: Leukemia is a type of cancer/malignancy of the blood and bone marrow in which there is an increase of abnormal white blood cells released from the bone marrow into the peripheral / circulating blood. Leukemia is a broad term covering a spectrum of many specific diseases which can be either acute or chronic. Most leukemias are treatable by various forms of chemotherapy. Hope that this helps.
