The Leukemias: Cancers of the blood cells are commonly known as/called leukemias. There are two main types: lymphocytic and myeloid leukemias, each has several subtypes. There is a unique type called hairy-cell leukemia as well. There are approximately 45000 cases diagnosed each year in the us.
