A member asked:

Help please? what is hematoma, and how heparin can cause it if given intra-muscular?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

See below: Heamtoma is the term for bleeding into tissues. Heparin prevents blood from clotting which is essential for stopping bleeding. If heparin is injected and it injures a blood vessel at the site of injection into the muscle, there could be bleeding into the muscle resulting in hematoma.
