UTI following sex: Pyelitis signifies that urinary infection has reached kidney/s. Called honeymoon pyelitis or cystitis because infection follows a woman's first experience with sexual intercourse, or because newly-weds may well indulge in lots of sex. Best preventative is for female to empty her bladder after sex. This washes out any bacteria which entered bladder during pumping action of intercourse.
