Bruise: If you have significant pain and difficulty of walking/standing, you might need to be evaluated for hip fracture. If no fracture is found, you can take NSAIDs for pain and inflammation. Icing should help with swelling and stop bruising from getting worse. You should follow up with your doctor for any persistent pain, swelling, shortness of breath or any other new symptoms.
