HIgh cholesterol: Your cholesterol (c) of 209 is high, was it taken on a fasting blood sample? If not, have it rechecked on a fasting sample. Was your HDL and LDL checked? You are young to have some cholesterol problems. If you have risk factors such as obesity or lack of exercise, lose weight and exercise more. See a physician now so you can get some guidance on how to prevent your c from becoming a future problem.

Not likely: Not likely. Here is the deal. Cholesterol is made of good (HDL) and bad (ldl) cholesterol. The higher the good, and the lower the bad, the lower your risk. Go to this website: http://cvdrisk.Nhlbi.Nih.Gov/calculator.Asp put in your information (age, gender, total cholesterol, hdl, smoker?, blood pressure, and you get your 10 year risk of a heart attack. At 20 years of age, your risk is likely low.

Risk factors: In the recent past, we concentrated more on the bad cholesterol (ldl) and not just the total. Now there is a better and newer way to risk stratify you that incorporates many other (risk) factors like smoking, family history, etc, and can determine a more accurate cardiac risk for you, and help us docotors deterimne if medication would help decrease your risks. See a dr., get lipids and calculation.
